Voices of internationalisation of higher education from sub-Saharan Africa, China and Indonesia

Abstract From the perspective of peripheralised countries, internationalisation is imbalanced and hegemonic, as it predominantly constructed by universities in Global North. We explore from cases sub-Saharan Africa through dominance Western knowledge systems brain drain; China isolation playing ‘catch up’; Indonesia financial crisis, bailout conditions International Monetary Fund World Bank marketisation. By taking sub-Sahara Africa, Indonesia, this article problematises idea argues that further relegates countries to margin.
